Everything added in the 2.x releases

These features build on Wisp's wheel-indicated speed, Native HUDs, tire calibration, profiles and local run recording. Updating retains your settings, colors, saved positions, calibration and runs. This guide covers shipped releases from 2.0 to 2.5. Lap delta, the live track map, and shift guidance are marked as beta below.

Lap delta and a live circuit map

Compare your current lap with your session best or previous lap at the same track position. Race and Rivals use the game's lap clocks; Time Attack at Legend Island, Hokubu, Soni, and Sekibe uses start-line crossings. Pauses add no lap time. The live track map builds an outline from your first full lap and follows the car around it.

Enable Lap delta in Appearance. More options holds the optional bar, map, sizes, and position settings. Both features are in beta.

A dashboard for your second screen

The dashboard brings together a curved RPM scale, large speed and gear readings, power, torque and session peaks. Vehicle details and connection information have their own groups. Driver assists distinguish Disabled, Enabled and Active.

Choose Display mode from Dashboard for a borderless view on another monitor. Fill screen uses the whole monitor; Resizable lets it share the screen. F11 switches Display mode from Dashboard, and Escape returns to the application. Your in-game overlays remain separate.

See your drift angle and understand the angle bonus

Enable the borderless drift gauge in Appearance > Gauges. Adjust its size and position, add dark shading, or use a separate black background with adjustable opacity. Custom target lets you choose an angle and tolerance.

Drift Zone angle bonus uses the verified scoring profile for Steam FH6 6.440.853.0 and Xbox app / Microsoft Store FH6 3.440.853.0. Its scoring-angle range starts at 10 degrees and the angle bonus reaches its maximum at 59.4 degrees. A 20–40 degree drift already uses roughly 80–90% of that maximum bonus; more angle beyond the ceiling adds no angle bonus.

The percentage describes the angle bonus. Use it alongside speed, line and the score shown by FH6. Other builds use measured angle and Custom target guidance.

Both modes hide the angle, marker and bonus below 5 mph ground speed, about 8 km/h.

Arrange Runs around the comparison you want to make

Show graphs opens eleven graph modules grouped into Overview, Engine, and Tires & handling. Show or hide modules, reorder them, choose their widths, and keep the workspace saved. Graph cards fill their rows and stack in narrower windows.

  • Compare runs overlaid or side by side with distinct colors and line styles. Read statistics as cards or an A/B table.
  • Use a shared cursor across time graphs, select a section for its statistics, or match an acceleration speed range when both runs complete it. Power and torque by RPM, G-force plots and tire-temperature changes remain available alongside time graphs.
  • Switching Run A keeps the comparison, graph position and valid selected range. Closing graph controls returns to the previous scroll position.
  • Record and Stop stay within reach. Smaller windows put the saved-run library in a drawer, and the list keeps its dark theme while recording.

Save edits, find a tune and share a run

Search by run name or tune label. Names, tune labels and notes save automatically, including when switching runs. Saving… / Saved feedback and Retry make the save state visible; recovery drafts protect edits that could not yet be saved to the run file.

The selected run's Export menu contains .wisprun and CSV exports. Save image exports the current graph view. Import runs accepts multiple .wisprun files or a Wisp library ZIP, and Export all backs up the library. Delete all asks for confirmation and offers Undo, retaining local recovery copies. Imports validate before changing the library, skip identical runs, and reject conflicting duplicates without replacing existing data.

Recording shortcuts, countdowns, timed stops, markers and individual exports remain available. Runs saves local telemetry recordings of up to ten minutes. Add tune labels and notes to keep track of the settings used for each attempt.

Appearance settings and connection help

Appearance groups Layout, Gauges, Colors and Behaviour beside a larger live HUD preview that fits available space without stretching the gauges. Common controls stay visible; detailed explanations and fine adjustments use More options.

  • Customize app border color and width, glow, surface opacity, corner rounding, spacing, text colors and backgrounds.
  • Show, pause or hide background particles. Follow the app accent or choose a separate particle color. The dashboard rim adds accent lighting and outward-moving particles.
  • Set G-force dot and trail colors separately, and disable the meter in every layout. Two boxes is now called Box.
  • Restore the original layouts and styling with Appearance > Layout > Use legacy interface, then restart. Fresh installs use the wizard palette; updates retain saved colors.
  • The interface adds a smaller navigation dock, subtler card styling, visible keyboard focus, three colored window controls, and fading scroll edges. Scrollbars remain visible.

Connection help and an optional tour

Click the connection status to see whether Forza is detected, telemetry is arriving, and the HUD is enabled or hidden, with the next relevant step. Diagnostics contains setup instructions, connection controls and the UDP port setting, replacing the separate Setup page. The wizard uses FH6's Fullscreen setting name.

Version 2.0.1 adds an optional four-step tour of the drift gauge, Dashboard and Display mode, Runs, and Appearance colors. Skip or dismiss it at any time, or replay it from Release Notes. Automatic game-triggered launches are not interrupted by the welcome banner.

Power and torque beside your speedometer

Enable power and torque independently in Appearance > Gauges. Native-style dials show the game's reported live BHP and torque, with Nm or lb-ft for torque. Each gauge has peak markers and a peak readout. Reset peaks clears the observed peaks without changing the fixed range; changing cars starts fresh.

Fixed ranges, smoothing and colors

  • Choose fixed ranges saved for each car. Set from this run applies observed peaks plus 10% once; later readings do not move the scale. Before a car is detected, the controls set defaults for cars without saved ranges. Numbers can exceed the scale even when a needle reaches its end.
  • After retuning, reset peaks and make a full-throttle pull before setting ranges again. The range uses the peak readings observed during the pull.
  • Gauge smoothing ranges from 0 to 1500 ms, starting at 250 ms. Numbers refresh less often than needles for readability. Fresh readings with repeated game timestamps are retained; needle playback resets after a gap in telemetry.
  • Negative output is hidden by default. Show negative power and torque enables it on the gauges; saved telemetry retains the original signed values.
  • Gauge start, Gauge middle and Gauge end in Appearance > Colors share a palette across boost, tire temperature, power and torque. Power and torque numbers can follow those colors independently.

Individual size and placement

Power and torque have separate size controls and saved positions. With 2.3.3 and later, attachment is available only in Native Analogue; Minimal, Combined, Box and Native Digital use separate movable gauges. Edit HUD layout places each gauge. Incompatible attachment controls are disabled while preserving your preference for a return to Native Analogue.

Version 2.1.1 aligns boost, tire-temperature, power and torque dials at 100%, keeping row and column centers aligned when sizes differ. Boost and tire size controls apply while attached and detached. G-force size ranges from 50% to 200% for attached, detached and Combined layouts, including their previews. Earlier shared power/torque sizes carry into the separate controls.

HUD profiles retain visibility, attachment, smoothing, colors, sizes and selected ranges. Fresh installations start with Native Analogue and all gauges enabled; existing installations keep their saved choices.

Added in 2.2

Shared HUD rendering and a compact EV layout

EV and Digital HUDs, supplementary gauges, G-force and text layouts use the native renderer already used by the Analogue speedometer. Existing artwork, colors, needle behavior and smoothing controls are retained. G-force trails stay aligned when display scale changes, and the displayed dot is interpolated between telemetry samples.

Attached EV tire-temperature, power and torque gauges wrap closely around the speedometer's right side, with tire temperature above power and torque and G-force above the dial. Attached gauges are smaller by default. You can still resize or detach each gauge. The HUD and Appearance preview use the same placement, and enabled detached gauges remain visible in the preview through car and tune changes.

Added in 2.3

Hold power and torque through brief power cuts

Drift mode holds the last positive power and torque numbers and needle positions during brief combustion-engine power cuts, instead of repeatedly dropping to zero. The numbers pulse to show the cut. Enable it in Appearance > Gauges > Engine output > More options; it is off by default.

Choose Drift cut flash in Appearance > Colors and set Flash frequency from 0.5 to 3 Hz, starting at 1.25 Hz. Changing frequency keeps the current pulse smooth. Flashing changes the number color while retaining its normal opacity and the held needle position.

Releasing the accelerator or leaving a brief cut returns the gauges to live readings. Drift mode, color and frequency save with HUD profiles. Original telemetry and peak readings are unchanged, and signed-output mode and EV regeneration keep their existing behavior.

Calibrated shift guidance beta

Shift guidance is BETA and off by default. Calibrate each supported combustion car and tune with a rolling full-throttle pull and a confirming upshift. Wisp compares measured full-load output in adjacent gears and shows configurable green, yellow and flashing red stages around the gear number.

Guidance requires matching calibration. Missing RPM coverage or a changed configuration requires calibration before guidance is available. An upper-range target is identified separately when the measured curve does not show an acceleration crossover.

The beta currently supports combustion cars on Forza Horizon 6 Steam build 6.440.853.0. Red marks a calibrated full-load RPM target. Use the guidance alongside your experience of the car's grip and shift recovery.

G-SYNC/VRR rendering changes

Version 2.4 addresses uneven needle motion while Forza has focus with G-SYNC/VRR enabled. When the main HUD fits entirely on one monitor, Wisp uses a presentation window covering that monitor while keeping the artwork at your chosen size and position.

On the hardware path, the needle has its own compositor visual and worker. RPM readings reach it directly from telemetry, so needle motion can advance while the UI is busy. Wisp also reuses rendering buffers and needle pixels, reduces unnecessary wakeups, and records more detail about input and presentation in debug exports.

Interface, gauge and update fixes across 2.x

2.0: interface and run-library fixes

Corrected RPM ticks and bar alignment, removed the tachometer glow, kept Display exit controls outside the scaled dashboard, and fixed card borders, Extras spacing, graph customization clipping, nested scrolling and disabled-library styling. Navigation retains its selected theme while the Save HUD profile dialog is open, including in the legacy interface.

2.0.1: interface pauses and particle timing

Game-detection scans no longer pause the interface when the normal Forza process is not found. Background and dashboard-rim particles handle timing variations without discarding alternating animation updates, while animation work remains bounded. The top-speed label stays inside the dashboard oval in wide windows and after leaving Display mode.

2.1.2: colored boost-number memory use

Reuses digit images as boost colors and pulse opacity change, preventing cached images from accumulating throughout a session. Digit colors, shadows, sizes and needle behavior remain unchanged.

2.3.1: standalone boost and tire-temperature gauges

Boost and tire-temperature gauges work as separate overlays with Minimal, Combined and Box. Enable them in Appearance > Gauges and place them with Edit HUD layout. Attachment is available on compatible Native layouts, with the preference retained when switching back. Native Digital keeps its existing boost rail.

2.3.2: complete Appearance previews

Both app interfaces show enabled standalone boost and tire-temperature gauges in Minimal, Combined and Box previews, using the selected colors, individual sizes and tire-gauge style. Previews fit the available space while keeping scaled-down speed text visible.

2.3.3: placement and update recovery

Power and torque attachment is restricted to Native Analogue. Default supplementary-gauge placement considers the separate G-force meter and tries the side when space above is unavailable. If an update helper is missing or an update cannot start, Wisp stays open and gives repair instructions. The full installer includes the helper and asks you to exit a running copy before installation.

2.3.4: app accent-color crash

Changing the accent color while the dashboard is on an inactive tab no longer crashes Wisp. The dashboard oval effect returns in the selected color when switching back. The gauge placement, preview and update-recovery fixes remain included.

Updating and compatibility

Install over your existing copy after exiting Wisp. Settings, HUD profiles, gauge positions, tire calibration and saved runs carry over. Wisp runs on 64-bit Windows 10 and 11 with the Steam or Xbox app / Microsoft Store PC edition of Forza Horizon 6 on the same computer.

Native HUD support, verified Drift Zone scoring guidance and beta shift guidance have separate build requirements. Check the compatibility notes for Native HUD support. Standard Data Out telemetry features remain available on other supported PC editions.

Setup and troubleshooting covers Data Out, connection checks, HUD visibility and recording. Ways to use Wisp explains how to compare launches, drifts, gearing and handling with the available readings.
